McBrock 1958 Journal July 1 Atkasuk, Mead River Coal Mine, Alaska During a short walk out into the tundra one ptarmigan was seen. The snowshoe hares were checked. All traplines were retrieved today with a catch of one Dicrostonyx in transect III; it was processed and prepared as a study skin. July 2 Barrow, Northern Alaska Cleaned weasels and prepared for flight out of Mead River. Plane arrived at about 9000 and arrived at Barrow was at about 1200 July 3 An attempt was made at setting out two traplines in the Voik area. Tom and I drove to the area and then the motor on the weasel stopped and would not start again. Fortunately, other A.R.H. personnel in the area gave us a ride back to the station July 4 Cleaned up work in lab. Skinned a few lemmings. Planned for trapping at Pitt Point at a later date. July 5 Skinned lemmings. Set out transects IIIA and IIIB. Permit-butler 200 new traps July 6 Checked traps in Yarning - no catch. Rode over tundra with Tom Cole and Jim Myers. Looked at transects IVA + IVB which are
