M. Brock 1957 Journal Barrow, Northern Alaska Aug 23 processed by Henry Childs and myself Aug 24 Retrieved traplines III A and III B and IV A and IV B. Processed over a hundred lemmings working in cooperation with Henry Childs. Set out traplines ZX and X in the evening during which time a snowy owl was seen a short distance north of the transects. Also observed at this time was the large flocks of ducks that are once again flying west over the Point. These large groups of ducks have not been noticed since before my trips to Wainwright when the movement ceased. It has also been noticed that within the last week or possibly last two weeks, Snowchicks and Turnstones have become quite common where before Turnstones were only seen rarely and Snowchicks only at Bread River (earlier in the season).
