E.M.Brock 1957 Journal Wainwright, Northern Alaska Aug 13 As has previously happened, todays morning catch was extremely large 41 for both lines III and IV. Took a walk about a mile and a half west along the tundra, turned south for a half mile and walked back to the village about 500 yards away from Crawford's school building (when I'm staying) I finally saw the Dovitchups again and this time we able to obtain one which was prepared as a study skin. I have been taking a .410 shotgun into the field with me every time I go out. Four lemmings were seen on this walk. Traps were checked starting at 1930 and at the same time I picked them up. Very few lemmings were caught in this evening check finished retrieving traps at about 2100. Saw three lemmings while retrieving the traps. I will leave Wainwright tomorrow. no snowy owls were seen on my stay at Wainwright and about 25 gargers were seen per day. In reference to the one Dovostory.
