Brock 1957 Journal Barrow, Northern Alaska July 30 The traps were not checked last night and when the two transects V and VI were checked this morning 1 lemming one juvenile golden plover, two juvenile red-backed sandpipers and 88 juvenile longspurs were caught; the combined weight of the catch was 6 lbs. Frozen lemmings were processed during the rest of the day. The evening check of the traplines yielded very few birds and very few traps had been set off. I am still raising and feeding lemmings in the lab. Two litters are still going one with only one remaining young and the other with five remaining young. July 31 Transects V and VI checked in morning and evening. Lemmings processed during rest of the day Aug 1 Transect V and VI checked in mornings and picked up. Transects I and II set out in afternoon. Known age lemmings taken care of and one prepared as a study skin since it died yesterday.
