M. Brock 1957 Journal July 4 Barrow, Northern Alaska All of ARk went on an LVT trip to the Port Rogers Monument. Before leaving I checked my traps, nothing caught. On the LVT trip saw two well developed phalarope (red) chicks following their mother. Two longspur chicks were seen, each at a different locality, hopping along the ground. I saw one Lemming on the 12 mile trip to the monument and of the 38 other people on the LVT, two other lemmings were reported as being seen. On the way back one lemming was reported as been seen. July 5 A Leillus gemyi was prepared as a study skin Animal caught by Pete Savolito on May 28 or 29 1957 near Meade River. Bill Maher was with Pete at the time. Animal kept alive and brought back to lab. Gave birth to 4 youngon 6-17-57 all of which had died by 6-22-57. Three animals were saved for Dargith Dayup who killed this one on July 3. Since we did not get back from the monument until very late, I was unable to pick up the traplines IV and II on July 4. The traplines were picked up this morning with no traps missing and no catch on either line,
