which Maher & Cade brought back with them
June 4,
June 5 Chester brought in two more lemmings from the village. A field trip in an LVT (landing vehicle track) to the Inarn River was taken today. At about 8:30 in the morning Ken Tuvac, Bill Maher, Tom Cade, "Doc" Hanna, Lowell Douglass, Bill Boyd and myself left for the Inarn. The distance traveled each way was approximately 25-30 miles. The weather was heavily overcast at Barrow and most of the journey to Inarn, clearing approximately five miles before reaching our destination. The same was true of our return trip - the overcast weather starting about 5-10 mi. away from the River. Also noticed was the fact that although snow is becoming sparse at Barrow, about five miles out of Barrow Village along the coal mine trail, snow cover was much more noticeable. Once again, though, when at the Inarn snow cover was very sparse and much melting had taken place. On the trip to the Inarn approximately four miles before reaching the river three caribou were seen.
