M. Brock 1957 Journal A.R.L. Pt. Barrow, Alaska May 27 at 8:00 in the morning. Plane made short stop at Bettie and we arrived at Pt. Barrow at about 12 noon. Flight to Brooks range and over the Brooks was clear, most of the tundra flight north of the Brooks range was overcast. Have seen many gulls flying about around Pt. Barrow. Met Mrs. Hanna who showed me a lemming (Lemmus) which she caught running about the Pt. Barrow area "about two months ago." Date was April 11 that Mrs. Hanna caught the Lemmus. Someone also reported seeing one by the airport. Made a short trip out into the tundra with Bill Boyd and Bill Maher. Did not see any sign of [illegible] lemmings workings. Many old lemming droppings were seen and old tunnels noticed May 28 Talked with Phil Sovalik this morning who informed me that the eskimo children in the village were "playing with lemmings" How many I don't know. I did tell him we wanted everyone they found. Went into the field in a weasel along with Bill Maher. We looked
