44. CORACINA CALEDONICA CALEDONICA :-(GMELIN) A.M.N.H. has FIVE (5). POOR SPECIMENS. Wants EIGHT (8). Exchange value. GOOD. Total Permit c/c. 1/2. c/c. for Chomua. 2 Remarks: SINGLE RED TICK. 6/3/39. A few seen in forests but not plentiful at all. 14/3/39. One immature shot in heavy rain, near but not with a family party of crows. 16/3/39. One shot high in forest tree, fully 60 ft. or more up, but lost. 20/3/39. Several heard calling especially when it was inclined to be fine, all were very high in the forest. 24/3/39. One seen & shot. Is not a common species in the forest though a few are generally about. 27/3/39. Several seen heard. Appears more active + plentiful in forest in fine weather. 30/3/39. One seen feeding high in forest. Wailu 4/5/39. Several seen. Not common but a few are seen about. 20/5/39. Generally a few about, varies in number in different areas of the district from day to day. Is more or less a territory bird always returning to one area, but moves off to some distance following food supplies. 13/6/39. A party of 4 seen on flats near river mouth. 17/6/39. 3 seen feeding under cover, not very usual in this species. 19/6/39. Numbers of these congregating on flats to feed on calopillars. 20/6/39. Not as abundant but numbers were seen about-
