42. LALAGE LEUCOPYGIA MONTROSIERI:-(VERREAUX&DESMURS) A.M.N.H. has SEVEN (7). Wants FOUR (4). Exchange value. GOOD. Total Permit No EIGHT (8). c/o for Honma. R. Remarks. 6/3/39. Did not appear common in forest, only seen there. Is Common in more open country. 14/3/39. Is present in forest but does not appear very plentiful though in friver weather it may appear more. 15/3/39. One or two seen, feeding high in leaf canopy. (Fruit?) 16/3/39. about half a dozen seen, fairly numerous in forest eventually. 17/3/39. Very few seen during very wet day. 20/3/39. Only one seen in short time. 24/3/39. One seen + shot. Appears to live almost entirely in the upper leaf Canopy. Apparently a fine weather bird. 27/3/39. Several seen + heard. 28/3/39. One seen feeding low, several seen high up. 30/3/39. Several seen feeding low in forest. Active in sun. WAIRU 4/5/39. Seen fairly common all over area. 20/5/39. A few seen but numbers vary moves a lot about the district, probably following hatches of caterpillars. 12/6/39. Note this species feeds actually on the ground in open grass paddocks. Apparently on caterpillars too on. Feeds also in + on low shrubs. 17/6/39. Not as common on flats as previous days + sly + nervous.. 19/6/39. Common again + actively feeding. 20/6/39. Not as common on flats this morning.
