39. Collocalia esculenta uropygialis:-(Gray). A.M.N.H. has TWELVE (12) Wants FOUR (4). Exchange value FAIR Total Permit No. 6 c/No for Noumea 2. Remarks 6/3/39 Very common in forests along tram + log hauling tracks. Flies below tree level mostly Fairly common along train line to forests in open country but is greatly outnumbered by the larger species there It outnumbers the larger species in forests. 14/3/39 Feeds much along forest tracks even in fairly heavy rain 15/3/39 Noticed feeding much today along tracks even very narrow track 16/3/39 Feeding much as usual 17/3/39 Feeding in all but heaviest down pours 26/3/39 As usual feeding in rains between showers irrespective of weather 24/3/39 Not as many as usual of this species seen. 27/3/39 Very abundant + feeding much 28/3/39 Late commencing to feed 30/3/39 Feeding much low in forest- WALLY 3-5/5/39 seems fairly abundant about trees + shrubs. May Generally common usual behaviour Always a few seen 17/6/39 Feeding higher than usual mostly about coffee
