Childs 1957 2 July Soils 2 Pitwegea River, Cape Selins, Alaska Upland Tundra (normal profile) Horizon Depth Morphology 1 0-4" Very dark brown to black (10 YR 2/2) partially decayed moist organic matter. 2 4-12" Fine sandy loam mottled from strong brown (7.5 YR 5/6) to grey (7.5 YR 5/0) with brown (7.5 YR 5/4) the dominating color. Many of the brown mottles follow channels containing partially decayed plant roots. Moist to wet. Weak platy structure. Frozen layer at 12" 30 Jn 57
