16 July Barrow, Alaska
Prepared for trip to Wainwright, Alaska.
17 July Wainwright, Alaska
Left Barrow about 1600 in rain. Found Dr. Milan + Dr. Gottman from Aero Med Lab at school. Had picnic supper with Ms. Eckles & family, the Warners (magnetic massometer) et al. Set out Thursday after supper.
18 July Ran skins and set at 5pm 2. All skins need to be restaked to be usable. Plywood stakes are disintegrating. Eckles boys, who seem to be interested, sharp observers, reported numbers of both Lemmings & Dicrostonyx rarus at melt-off time. They brought in a live adult female Dicrostonyx for supper last night. They reported a Parasitic lemur nest. Snow Owls reported as common although Barrow only are today. A Bannock lemur flew over. Plucked one Short-eared Owl. Fama sparsa & print, The day was pleasant.
19 July No wind and warm weather with the month's mosquitoes. Amba of whales were seen. John and I reported taken at Barrow.
20 July Wainwright windy. Milan & Gottman left. Over 5 whales seen offshore.
21 July Meade River Coal Mine, Alaska
Left Wainwright about 1630 and went direct to Meade River. Mr. Solomon + wife there, she is
