10 Aug. Ostwayer River Cape Soline, Alaska
Two new birds were added to the Ringer list today—Wilson's Snipe and a Swallow, perhaps an immature Bar-tailed, the latter Pete collected along with the Wheatears. I got 2. It was a rainy, drizzly day just the kind of day they like. 2 T, 4 T2 last night at this camp I got 47 mice!!! and with 8 birds, Mrs. Childs little boy Henry had a busy day.
11 Aug. Rain that started yesterday continued thru the night and all day long. This made many the traps into a jolly business. Many traps by evening were under note. The river continues to rise. The tundra is now my net and all depressions have standigater No Wheatears today.
12 Aug. Rain all day again. Set trants 3 & 4 in a.m. Feeling below par—no great stomach and no desire for food
13 Aug. Cleared down a bit, light overcast and localized light showers. Waited for plane. Still feeling poorly. Temperature below normal in morning but chills and fever in the evening.
14 Aug. The plane did not come in today again. Many mosses the medical thought held for all careand
