13 July Pitmezekhin, 16mi SE Cape Sabine, Alaska
Dr. John Thomson, Ichthyologist of Univ of Wisconsin
arrived in earlier afternoon replacing Solomon.
Ranets shown off and late p.m.
11 July Sunny and no wind. Ran transects and
washed clothes.
12 July got a Cleithrinomys in Tq-10.0 this a.m. Went up
rise to a mountain and collected lichens with Thomson.
Shot a Redpoll and a semi-patentated Plover. Saw one Canker.
Very little bird activity. Finished transects in evening.
13 July Left at 11:00 for mountain by the Northfork.
Reached and passed the cliff where the
Sky Probes were but decided against
going to the for mountain — too far.
Collected an adult Horned Lark and
thus identified the unknown of 7/6.
Saw a pair of Gyrfalcons, one an adult
pure white individual. Collected another
Yellowlegs and a Shrike. Saw golden
Eagle and Rough-leg Hawk.
14 July After rain most of the night, the west
sleared and became windy. Packed, rested
and prepared for trip downstream.
15 July Parked and started downstream. After 3hrs
and 5 portages we gave up having proceeded
1 mile air line. The bottom of the boat was
already showing considerable wear. Pulled
