Childs 1958 17 Jan—Bering River, Cape Selina, Alaska about 1900 Lockhardt pilot and 3 people from USGS stopped for a few minutes bringing 6 beers. They then left for Kotzebue at 1930. 18 Jan—Still windy in a.m. but stopped in evening. Checked meets on both plots as well as constricting site classification on several transects. Set 100 traps 19 Jan—Caught one Dicistrox m 100 traps. Walked to mountain across the river and back by Falcon Rock. Shot three Knots and saw others. Shot at a Marmot. Saw a White Waytail! There are three young falcons in Gypfalcom nest. 40+ Canada shield mountain. Loot knife and opposite water, fall latter than St. Mark. Mongoose sign very scarce on the whole area covered. 20 Jan—5 King Loms flew over calling in the morning and several others during the day. Walked to Falcon Rock in hope of being able to weight the young Gypfalcons. Got some good close pictures but could not get at the birds. A snow goose was sleeping with the pair of Canadas seen there yesterday. With the north wind Canada are back in the area, a herd of 40+ near Falcon Rock and 50+ near Wolven Mt. Male shot to this at 5 that came near cap. Range about ½ mile — we now have only 9 shells between our 2 guns, a plane has been heard off and on for the last 2 days in
