Childs 1958 4 June Patroza River, Cape Sabin, Alaska Wolverines, one hunt among the Tussocks. This is an area of frequent caribou use and it shows it. While watching the Wolverine, a pair of displaying knots flew over and landed. I collected one here and another later on which I believe came off a nest. Pete collected a & godwit which was probably nesting past Second Ridge Foxes called frequently in the evening. A wolf left his tracks near the old campsite. 5 June Shifted traps to TzTty. Skinned all day. Prospects for a good catch seem likely, judging from the signs of moose activity. Pete Covered essentially the same area today as I did yesterday. He saw a pair of Rough-leg Hawks, and at least 7 knots. No Wolverine or Caribou. 6 June Heavy rain early this morning. Got a shrew in Tz. Shot at 2 killdeers outside tent with no luck. Skinned all day. Collected the 2 Killdeers. Pete saw a Marmot across the river, got 4 shrews in traps. 7 June Pete shot several Caribou across the river shortly after I left to run traps and census plot #2. Two swans flew over. Found long tail jaeger nest on west marsh. Beautiful warm day that grows colder in evening
