Childs 1958 26 May Wainwright, Alaska species. at this camp the lead was closing rapidly. Old squaws, King and Spectacled Eiders were seen. Red Phalaropes, Biddy Turnstone, Mew, Yellow billed loon, Glaucous Gulls, and longspurs were seen. While waiting for ducks, we heard rifle shots a short distance away and after coffee (a must at all of the camps we visited) we went over to find that they had shot a large old male Polar Bear. Ranoch got the gutzball ook, femur and numerous fruit. It was after 11 when we got to the third camp and 12:30 at the fourth. They had gotten 51 seals, Bearded and Ribbon Seals. We had been told that the ducks would start to fly at 3 a.m. and as Myers and Ranoch were anxious & often same we waited in the tent until that time with 6 sleeping Eskimos. Shortly after three a few ducks, were seen and then for the next hour we were thrilled with a flight of 400-500 Yellow billed Loons. One flock of 150
