Childs 1958 21 May Barrow, Alaska They have an interest, lobulated kidneys. No birds were seen. Arctic Fox tracks were seen out on the ice. 22 May Rausch, Max, and I collected 4 glaucous Gull with considerable difficulty. We are still waiting for flying weather to get to Wainwright. The snow is much wetter and melting is taking place. In the Voth area the tops of the polygons were just beginning to show. However, near the Trapper Line. The snow depth was less than 6" and apparently quite wind swept. No Snow Owls or Longspurs have shown up yet. 23 May Wainwright, Alaska arrived at Wainwright about 5 p.m. Only a few flocks of eiders and one gull seen from the plane. A few seals were seen out on the ice. No owls or jaegers seen. Some of the Tops of the high center polygons along the Shore Type, perhaps, 1/2 mile inland were melted off. Here scattered eggs could been seen back of the village and in a short walk out behind the Church, we found.
