Children 1957 Journal 27 Aug. 9 Patagonian Cape Sabine, Alaska Rain again although wind has dropped some. Willows and sedges starting turn yellow in some areas. Lost my knife yesterday somewhere on traps line. Gargers (Parantie!) as many on traps as evidenced by mummy trays and later animals. 10 Aug The heavy fog lifted this afternoon and we went to Falcon Rock and collected the fledgling and one adult gyrfalcon. In two Violet-green Swallows and a Brown Bunting. Godwits moving through now. Fixed Stone Store and caught at the tent on fire with first load of wood! Embered T3+T4. Set T5+T6. As much water on tundra as when we arrived or more! 11 Aug Weatherman and going for a change. Felt lower all day so didn't do any thing but skin mine. More godwits flower. 12 Aug Waked at Camp. 13 Aug Walked across the river to the igloo looking for migrants and to collect firewood. Although weather was splendid, practically no birds were seen. Collected a Bintail. Garglers in all the ponds. Why no migrants? 14 Aug Al Brock replaced Solomon. Raven are along mine.
