25 June Pitmeza River, Cape Soline, Alaska
Ran transects and obtained mice, birds.
Strained and blew band in p.m. Taping
off after midnight.
26 June Ran transects. Cleared in p.m. Plan
with Max Brewer came in mid Aldufer
and Tedrow left. Max said I could
move to Beaufort if I wanted. Chose
to remain here.
27 June Went up river 3 miles to the stream
opposite the falcon nest and
collected 2 Hudsonian godwits and failed
to get the Pacific Godwits with them. It
was a long tring walk across the hills
and there was almost no indication
of mouse activity anywhere. Cantler
sums that the low productivity
of the sedgews grasses may be a
factor in mouse abundance here
as well as being responsible for
allowing a cyclic build-up at Barron.
This is an interesting point that should
be followed up.
28 June Skinned birds and wrote notes.
