July 16 Wainwright, Alaska
Run trouts 16 2. FAP arrived at 1230 + stayed
less than an hour to see the area + locations.
Walrus on ice offshore. Went out with
Rosman, Ben, Dave, & Fred at 1530 in
Dovriak. We got 4 walrus. Searing
murus, a gull, a Solin Gull, Yellow-
billed Loon air or over the ice. Got set
+ colder than — but it was worth the
effort. Got back at 2330! What a day!
Chuck left with Frank. (Hahn has
yet to get back with the weasel.
Rosman + crew brought Hahn back this morning.
Walrus ½ mile offshore but their is volunteer on
Sunday. White walruselyin is a blessing to native
people! Fog came in in late afternoon and stayed.
Wind still from the souths.
July 18 Army helicopter came in to get a box of 22
shells from site 1.’ Completed T1, T2 and
setup T3 + T4 with Walds Bolfish Jr. Paid
$1. On shore wind brought last of the pack ice
in close and with it fantastic number of
walrus. Directly offshore (about ½ mile) saw
many herds of foot with another groups
all over the place. That's put out + could
see the shooting with my binoculars.
July 19 Winds still high on shore. Run tops. Shoot a short
billed gull.
