Culbreath 1942 Jan 19. S. Fork Mt. 4 mi N. Bad River Rock, El. 3/100 Trinity Co., Calif. I left camp at 8:30 this AM and returned at 1:30 PM. I made a circle from camp down to the river and then north west down the river 3 1/4 mile. At this point this is a fairly wide bottomed canyon that runs to the north and crosses highway 36. I thought that the birds could be found in this area when it was shielded some from the wind but no birds were observed in this area. In the late afternoon I collected a townsend solitar from the willows that was protected from the wind by large Douglas Pines. Jan 20. A high wind has been blowing all day and is still going well tonight. The weather has been slightly overcast with very high thin clouds. The temperature has been high here for this time of year the last two days. I ran into a group of 3 chickadees today that got excited when I gave the pygmy owl call. One male was collected # 150 that shows very long scrotum for this time of the year. It measured 50 milimeters on the unshined animal. This evening I set out a line of 25 mouse traps through Douglas fir, along
