5 mi N Castle Butte, Kern Co California March 25 I saw Two grebes, what appeared to be Eared Grebes in winter plumage. Mar 26. It became very windy as a storm front moved in from 4:00 on throughout the night. I arrived to pick up traps at 6:45. Results as follows: Undisturbed site: Trap 5- ? meriamii, 50g, #1, perforate Trap 8 - 2? P longimulus 16g, dead, non-breeding, imm Trap 97 - 2? P longimulus , non breeding, 22g #1 Trap 44 2? O. meriamii 55g, #2, scrotal Disturbed site Trap 49 P longimemulus, #3, 17g, ?, non-breeding Trap 42 P. longimulus, #3, { Trap 34 P.longimulus } 10:00 AM It appears that the mammal density in this area is quite low.
