3 mi. W. Samuel Pk., 6300', Lower Mts., Lincoln Co. Rev.
climbed down, all the while the bird was still in the tree. I later saw a Cassin's
Finch in an adjacent tree.
1:00 While the bird was off the nest, I climbed
up to inspect it. There were two small
(5/4") Eggs in it, light - almost white - but
with a rose or beige cast, and unspotted.
Took a short walk back on road and in creek
bed along road. Saw a Western Bluebird 3' and a
White-breasted Nuthatch, which was feeding on
the trunk of a Ponderosa Pine. Six horses,
seemingly unattended, but well kept, walked
down the road. At camps, 3 more horses and
half a dozen head of cattle were also
moving down the road. Pinos Pk is
mixed in with the Gambel Oak on the hillside, and
there is occasionally a hilllope covered with
Manzanitas at this locality.
