Cents, Blai 1972 Journal 2 mi W sawmill pk, 6600 FT, clone MTs, Lincoln, CO. New May 14 I limit Little was heard until I needed the main road. I walked west along the road, about 50 feet from the shoulder. I soon came upon a "Phoebe" like bird setting on the top of a 20' high dead linton pine. He gave a single, rather harsh note while he flicked his tail. He was gray, with a hint of a crest and hint of spotting on breast. Slightly farther on, and away from the road, I saw quailows flying ahead. A low (4') dead tree about 5" in diameter had a hole in it, so I "shoed" and two quallaws hovered around the tree, sometimes sitting on it. I attempted to collect one, but, not following the pattern thrown by my 2" 6/1.38, I missed. I assume these were Violet-green Swallows, for some had white extending over their rump. The following species were seen: Violet Green Swallows - calling in flight. Common Raven - in pines at dawn. Western Bluebird, Rofeous-sided Towhee Plain Titmouse, with food at hole in dead PonderosaPine Chipping Sparrows (?) CASSIN'S FINCH Grace's Warbler final section Virginia Warbler
