Canti, Blair 1976 Journal 3 mi. N.W. Yucca Valley, San Bernardino Co., California March 21 17 Dipodomys merianus, 1 neotoma lepida, 1 Perognathus truei, 2 Onychomys torridus. Spoke with Duke MacMillan and Bob Mason of UCI about the situation. Saw C.T. Tate, Col. Fish & Gene Warner who lives up Peñar Ridge Rd.. 2 mi. E. Big Pine, Inyo Co., California March 22 Drove out to Big Pine via Rt. 50, The Kingsberg Grade, and U.S. 395. 400 mi., 9 hours. Weather, cloudy but clearing over Central Valley, windy in East side of Sierra. Arrived 5:00 p.m., set out grid 4 x 18 + 2 x 14 traps in alleoli sink study site. This area differs from surrounding hard pan in that it has a concentration of sand blown sand. Caught 2 D. merianus, 6 O. murrayi, 4 Perognathus monomylis, 1 Perognathus longimolus, and 1 Batmodontys megalaki. Only 2 O. murrayi and one of Grass died in the trap. That one carried 3 embryos. Set 100 traps off road that continues south across 164 from "Big Ears" - 5 PL Rats, Telestoma. This area is sandy with cactuses and Sarcabates. Nearer the pines, rabbitbrush and sage take over. Pines 4' high with soft sand make this site's March 23 Caught 3 O. murrayi, 10 dead, 1 jvn.♀ and 1 45 g adult ♂; 3 D. merianus, 1 Onychomys and
