cuts Alan 1975 Journal Highland Range, Juina Co., Nevada. September 5 The Camel Turn Miner Road (see map) and notes of May 17, 1972. arrived near fork but walked to corner spr, there met some people who came to gather a truckload of ponderosa pine lumber for winter fuel! We only saw them taking dead trees, but they may someday lumber out the few pines left here. In the morning I saw Pinion Jays and Clark Nutcracker's flying about in the canyon. We drove up to the top of Highland Peak. Saw an An. Vestral and a Sharp-tailed Hawk on the way up, as well as a Great-tailed Grouse. Returned to corner spr, and saw 4 or more Broad-tailed Hummingbirds in the wild rose near the springs. Left for Closer puts after lunch. drove E over S. from White To Burley, then followed BLM signs towards "East pass", arrived at Quaking Aspen springs about 5:00 p.m. Many cow-droppings about, mostly covering the ground in places. walked 5 and 6 or road and arrived at old lumber mill about 7:00 pm. The following day we walked and drove around the ponderosa pine covered valley just S of East pass saw many Swainson's Flycatchers, also Mountain Witchhazels, White-breasted nut hatches, Townsend Highland Peak S spr.
