June Montbridge, Los Angeles Co., California April 14 cotton. On Sunday I cleaned out the [illegible] locality, giving each more seed. No litters have yet appeared, which is a [illegible] luck. One D. minimus Taken yesterday in the Owens Valley was found dead today of undetermined causes. White Mountain Research Station Bishop, Inyo Co., California May 31. Today I was able to obtain a station wagon from The University Garage at 9:00 am and I commenced to pack for my trip to Bishop. I loaded my 64 kangaroo rats and gear up by noon and Then went home to pack my personal gear. At 2:45 P.M. I left for the Owens Valley, traveling east on Mt. 120, over the Tiger Pass. The trip was successful and, once over 7,000 ft., I was able to turn the air conditioner off, as it was cool enough for the inside. Tiger Lake was about 1/3 covered by ice, as was the western third of Tolomina Meadows, and Tiger Lake. I arrived in Bishop at 6:45 PM, 290 mi and 6 hrs late, and called Dan Busey, the station manager, who met me at the station and helped me set up my arrival in the animal room.
