Louis, Blair 1974 Journal Northridge, Los Angeles Co., Calif. April 4 turn to wild caught q. He said he found NO preg. q's last weekend in Big Pine. I left at 12:30, drove to Foles, and purchased some film and field supplies. After returning for lunch at 2:00, I went to buy lantern cartridges and more field supplies in Canoga Park. April 5. This morning I went to buy gas. Very few stations were open, so it had to hunt around. I went to see my friend, Doug Yoon at Calif. St. Univ., Northridge, and together we saw Dr. J.W. Dole and George F. Fisher. We stayed until 1:15 PM. Fisher had some comments on my project: 1) The separation of a switch-gene effect that is environmentally induced from a maturation process is impossible in the field. 2) My project is in effect dealing with the problem of realized niche and potential niche of a species as influenced by variation in biotic and abiotic environment (a la Hutchinson, 1957). Following lunch, I prepared the stone and lantern, and went to get cardboard boxes for the traps. I awaited my field companion, Roes
