Cuti, Blein 1973 Oct. 14 Journal Coyote Hills Regional Park, Alameda co., Calif. supported waterfall. The voices of long-billed marsh wren was not as prominent as in the past, and the tules along the marsh border looked thicker. Four white-tailed Kites were seen roosting near the periphery of a 30' high leafless tree. They were quite close together, 3 on one limb and one below. Golden Crowns were heard singing and the Mallards appeared pand. Marsh Hawks were infrequent, and only females were seen. Species seen: white-tailed kite Ruddy Duck Marsh Hawk House Finch Sparrow Hawk White Crowned Sparrow Red-tailed hawk Black Phoebe black-crowned Night heron (30) Snowy Egret Western Meadowlark Mallard American Coot. Oct. 29. Tilden Regional Park, Contra Costa co., Calif. Donna and I walked from Indian Camp to Jewel Zales, returning via Pack Rat Trail. Weather was exceptionally clear and warm, say 75° F.
