at the gravel site we caught
3 Dipodomys merionis and one deer mouse. at the sand dune site
we caught 6 D. ordii and one
D. merionis. we left at
4:05 pm for our next site.
Huntington Valley, Minard Co., Nev.
Driving SE from Wendell towards Pyramid lake we soon ran out of pavement. The dirt road extends some 30 miles, and I would recommend taking the paved road if at all possible. Once at Pyramid,
we drove via Fallon and Hawthorne to SR 10, thence turning off toward Marietta. At Marietta we spoke with the "town's" two inhabitants, Mr & Mrs. Don BRACKEN.
He was a man of 40 who looked 50, with a crown of wild white hair, weathered brown skin, and intense blue eyes. He was quite co-operative, and gave instructions and advice as to the route to Huntington Valley. We proceeded west, first going through a mountain canyon where the road was a mixture of soft sand and
