July 27
The north, and lightning flashed
occasionally, although no rain fell
on the valley. The wind made
sleeping difficult, although it wasn't
very cold.
July 28.
Today we arose early, at the first light
on the horizon, and broke camp
before collecting traps. Capture
as follows: 6 Peregrinus sp., 2
R. longimanus, 1 Orxchrys, 2
Pteronyx ae - No K.Kats at all.
Those last two nights have been
frightful and discouraging, reconfirming
the necessity of trapping human
systems if you are to get around,
Our food and money exhausted, as well
as our patience, we drove south
and homeward, stopping in Las
Vegas for gas and lunch. We
drove to 11 mi E Barstow and exited on
the Miracola Rd. off ramp, traveling
parallel to the main highway but
south of it through the town of
Yermo, in this fashion avoiding the
Calif. Agricultural Inspection Station.
