Cutch, Blair 1973 Journal Redroad Valley, Lincoln Co. Nev. July 27 quite low, I presume as a result of overgrazing by cattle. This is a Highway maintenance station short 2/3 the way across the valley, near the spot we found a dead kit fox on our way to Green Creek some days earlier. The soil seems rocky in this valley, and we stopped at several places along the way looking for human complexes. Finally, about lunch time we stopped at the pumping water station outside the highway maintenance station in the shade of a small tree artificially planted there. Our trap site was exactly 5 mi SE this point on Hwy 25, the vegetation there being a mixture of wheat grass and stippler with gravel pavement. 4 lines of 12 Sherman were set perpendicular to the road about 20 yd apart, without burrow systems, it is impossible to set other than in grid systems and hope for the best.
