July 17 Northridge, California, Los Angeles @ Today I loaded the station wagon and drove from Berkeley to Los Angeles, here to stay the night and pick up my field companions. TEMPERATURE was moderate for a summer day, 96° F in the San Joaquin valley, thunderstorms over the Sierra, according to Thersdec - Arrived in Northridge at 7:00 PM. July 18 Today I purchased lantern and stove equipment and made arrangements with my field companions, Ross Poulsen, to leave Tomorrow morning for the field expedition. July 19 Kyle Canyon, 5000 ft., Clark Co., Nev. Left Van Nuys at 10:30 AM and drove to Las Vegas, arrived there at 3:00 PM and had a late lunch. Drove out North West on Hwy/No 95 to State Route 34,
