J Crowley California Creeper May 14 Quercus Gold State Park, Mendocino Co., Calif. Elevation 200 ft. near pygmy forest of Cypress on north slope of canyon. Brownish bird about size of White-breasted Nut-hatch seen on Douglas fir; flew to Cinnis marcata. Horked around and around the trunk of the tree in spiral fashion, always upward. Flew closer to another pine and its markings became visible - white ves-miculations down a brown back. Slender body and slender rather long bill. Song was warbling then and sweet.
