Bald Cormorant
May 22 Russian Gulch State Park, Mendocino Co. Calif.
At beach, beyond rocky cliffs, large black bird seen flying like bullet above water, with its head and long neck stretched straight out. White patches on its flanks. Flew straight along above water about 4-8 feet then alit in water
May 24 Same bird seen. Looks somewhat like loon. Differs from Regem Guillemot (also black water bird) in flight—Cormorant's flight is slower, more gliding.
