Crowly, 1942 Sceloporus gracilis May 23 E. Fork Sheep Creek, 5500 ft., Kings Canyon, Fresno Co., Calif. May 23, 1942 (102) (103) 2 Sceloporus taken on trail leading to top of mountain, near E. Fork Sheep Creek. First lizard taken on east facing slope of mountain, above trail, under bush. Second lizard taken on southeast facing slope, below trail, on rocks surrounded by Mountain Mallow. Areas in which Sceloporus were taken were exposed to the morning sun (10:30-11:30), free from trees or bushes large than 5 ft. Mountain Mallow was the pre-dominant growth with a few scrubby little oaks. Rocks and streams of ants were abundant. About 50 ft. or 200 yards away, were Yellow Pine, Sugar Pines and Incense Cedars. May 24 Sentinel Camp, on Cedar Drive, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Mini Sceloporus caught: four baby ones, five large. Two taken in campground from logs lying on hot, rocky hillside facing north. Other seven captured at side of road on rocks. Large number of flies about rocks, providing food for lizards. One baby was caught with fly's wing protruding from its mouth. No's: 104-110.
