June 3 Azalea Camp, General Grant Headquarters 6700 ft., Fresno Co. Calif.
While on the road to Home Lake, we saw tho-
turn Robins, White-throated Swift sailing about
above our car, Ground Squirrel, Mourning
Dove, Wood Pewee, Turkey Vulture, and
Coast Steller Jays. We had lunch at a
picnic grounds near Home Lake, at 1:00 a.m.
There we saw Chipping Sparrow, Goldfinch,
Blackheaded Grosbeak, Brewer Blackbird,
Wood Pewee, and a g. Indulbin Warbler,
Oregon Junco and Western Robin. The
weather during the morning was cold,
cloudy at times, then again sunny but
at all times bitterly windy. We left Home
Lake, proceeded to Gen. Grant Headquarters
(3:30 arrived). There Mrs. Grunnell
get provisions, we bought footcards, and
waited for the truck. Then Harvey and
Bob arrived, they said they wanted to
visit some meadow (since they had al-
ready seen the General Grant Tree).
So we saw the tree while Jean, Harvey
and Bob saw the meadow. Ida and
I, Mrs Grunnell and Marie took a
camp patrol Camp Azalea, then hiked
down to the General Grant tree. Then
we first saw our campsite, it was already
