Crowley 1942 journal June 2 Cedar Grove S Fork Kings R, 4600 ft. Fresno Co., Calif. across the road for several more hours, they settled for the night. They attempted to awaken us this morning by drumming on the wood- basin - but to no avail. Eventually we breakfasted, collected traps. I had set 18 Mu- ssen Special Mouse traps west of camp and past Sheep Creek Camp grounds, along a dirt road and trail leading along the south bank of S. Fork Kings R. The traps (13): were set along the margin of the stream and 5 up along the trail - 20 ft. from the river's edge. Traps 1, 8 and 13 had caught Oryzomyces. Trap 1 was set at the base, along a huge root of a Sugar Pine which shot up 5 ft. from the water. The floor of the forest was strewn with pine needles. Trap 8 was set along - beneath - a fallen log, near Incense Cedar and a huge rock, 5 ft. from the water. Both three traps were set on the bank or margin and below the path. Trap 13 was set above the trail - 20 ft. from the water and beneath a Golden Oak (small), near Sugar Pine and Incense Cedar. Trap 1 got No. 122, a O'Orzomyces. No. 8 caught Specimen no. 120, a q with abdominal mammae. Trap 13 got no. 121, a O'mi breeding condition. Breed- ing season is apparently well advanced - to be
