Crowley 1942 Journal May 31 Cedar Grove, S. Fork Sheep Creek, 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. 3 Peromyscus trapped in 3 Museum Special Mouse traps. Had laid trap line of 15-Museum Special Mouse traps along the bank of the West Fork of Sheep Creek, just above the bridge crossing the west fork just south of its junction with S. Fork Kings R. The West Fork of Sheep Creek flows down the north facing slope of the canyon through Incense Cedar, Sugar and Yellow Pine and Mountain Masey-covered slopes. The traps were set under fallen logs, at the bases of trees and rocks along the bank of the stream (west bank) 5-20 feet from the water. In the diagram accom-panying this journal it can be seen that the first two Peromyscus (no. 116 or, and 118 g) were trapped under a fallen log-burn, and swarming with ants. The traps were set on the NE facing side of the log, in the fern needles which cover the forest floor. Associated plants are Mountain Masey, White Fir, Sugar Pine, Incense Cedar and Golden Oak. The or first Peromyscus was immature-showing that the breeding season is well advanced. The x² or g Peromyscus had 2 abdominal mammae showing the same thing. The last or x³ of Peromyscus
