Crowley 1942 Journal May 29. Cedar Grove, S Fork Kings R., Fresno Co., Calif., 4600 ft. Checked our traps set across the highway from the ranger's station on the south facing slope of the mountain. Species seen or heard: Clarkes Nutcracker Sierra Creeper Oregon Junco Red-shouldered Woodpecker Fox Sparrow Chickadee Chickadee Nuttall Flycatcher Mountain Thrush Western Robin California Jay Flyca sp.? Sierra Red-breasted Sapsucker Chipmunk May 30 Cedar Grove, S Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Set 22 traps across highway from ranger station at Cedar Grove, around base of mt. 2 of traps were sprung with bait gone. None had caught any ani- mals. Checked the Robin's nest across the bridge from the ranger's station. She eggs had hatched and three little down covered young with wide-open yellow mouths were in the nest - laying on top of each other i.e. with heads resting on each other backs - the 3 forming a sort of triangle.
