Crowley 1942 May 25 Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings Cr., 600ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Another Juncos was seen, and a Warbler sang from afar off up the canyon. A Chickadee said dee dee dee. The footprints of deer were obtrusive in the soft sand of the trail. The prints continued all the way up to the mountain meadow above the west fork of Sheep Creek. After passing the boundary line of King Canyon and Sequoia National Park, I saw a Chipmunk running along a log, heard a Flicker, saw a Coyote. This ani- mal was trotting along the trail, stopped to observe the canyon, saw me and turn- ing, ran rapidly up the mountain away from me. At the point where a small creek crosses the trail, Bell Sparrow, Juncos and Chickadee were seen. A call like that of a June-Mountain Thrail or Groove? came from up above the trail - from a shaded ravine. A Woodpecker - black with white wing patches - flew away from me. A Warbler - Calavers?- flew to a bare limb of a Yellow Pine upon which a Wood Pewee was already perched. The latter chased the warbler away. Four Audubon Warblers flew about the tops of the pines. A Western Tanagers flew from a dead tree to a White Fir! An unidentified
