Set 22 traps (Museum Special Mouse Traps) east of camp, across bridge, from ranger station. Traps were set along bank of stream and about edges of road, in thicket of pines. Of 22 traps, 2 had been gnawed. None had caught animals.
8:30 AM
After breakfast M Redm, J. Purvich and I set out for the falls on the east fork of Sheep Creek. On the way to the falls, we saw a Western Tanager, Calaveras Warbler, Steller Jays - in the pines along the trail to the falls. J. Purvich stayed behind to observe the Tanager while Marie and I continued slowly up the trail. We saw a Chipmunk running along the rocks in a stream bed to the right of the trail. White-throated Swifts were flying high above our heads. The day was sunny and very warm. After we got the set off rat trap for chipmunk, J Marie caught Stelepons a little way up the trail. Marie stayed at the Calliope Hummingbird's nest just below the Falls (10:10 AM), while I continued on up the trail to the top of the mountain.
