May 22 Cedar Grove S Fork Kings River, 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Caly
May 22, 1942
At 6:05 A.M. we collected our traps.
by me,
of 15 set 1 had Peromyscus manicu-[illegible]
relative (q.), 4 abdominal mammary
no end), 1 had swarms of black ants
on the bait, 1 had a large grey jay,
on the bait. The traps were set near
the junction of the best fork of Sheep
Creek with the south fork of Kings R.
10 were set along a draw and 5
on the bank of the Sheep Creek. I
skinned the 2 animals after break-
fast. In all there were 7 animals
cought in the traps set out last night
by the party. Dr. Fisher set some
gopher traps northeast of camp whicl
cought 2 gophers later in the day.
Dr. Miller and Mrs. Miller and Dr Fisher
left on the truck for Berkeley at 10:05.
They returned in about 15 min. with a
large grey squirrel which Jean Bussard
skinned. After lunch, the other girls
skinned while Mrs. Brunnell and I
cleaned up (K.P.) and I soaked my
infected finger. The Stellar Jays have
begun to infest our camp. At 3:55
