Presumably gathering green material for the nest. This Dipper flew off down the creek. After waiting in vain for their re-turn, our party left for the old road. Dr. Fisher and I walked at the junction of the trail with the road while Mrs. Muller and M. Redon returned to the Callup's nest to look for the rest of our party. Rejoining us, Mrs. Muller and M. Redon continued back on the old road to camp with us. En route we saw a pair of Sparrow Hawks (first in the bird list). One flew to a tree in which the other was already located. She one in the tree arose into the air, there were screams and the 2 flew off together. Above the canyon, high in the air were a number of 15? - Swifts.
A Flicker trilled and flew to the top of a Jeffrey pine. It flew about from a Sugar Pine to an Incense Cedar and back to the Jeffrey Pine. About 10 ft. down from the top of the latter tree, about 5 ft. from where the Flicker clung was a round hole - looked made. M. Redon saw a
