Crowley 1942 May 21 Cedar Grot, S Fork Kings River, 4600 ft, Fresno Co., Calif. Journal May 21, 1942 Dipper. The bird was first seen flying southeast up the creek toward the dam. It flew past the dam to a small waterfall and flew behind it where it stayed for 1 minute. Then it flew to the west bank of the creek where it dip- ped, then flew down the canyon again. Mr. Dippled us back to the junction of this trail with the old road and departed toward the floor of the canyon, while Mrs. Miller and I returned to the Callupi's nest. M. Redm and Dr. Fisher were watching the nest. Dr. Fisher and I went to see the American Dipper and the other two followed after leaving a note for the rest of the party. After arriving at the dam, Dr. Fisher and I waited some 5 minutes before she Dipper appeared, just as the other two members of our party came in sight. The Dipper flew behind the falls. It's mate flew up the canyon shortly after with something in its mouth. One of them reappeared, dipped into the water along the west bank of the creek and emerged on a rock. This Dipper flew
