Crowley, 1942 Journal May 21 Cedar Grove S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. May 21, 1942 Party of nine including Dr. A. H. Miller and Mrs. Miller, Mr. Dignam, Dr. Harvey Fisher, Frances Ogilvie, Ida De May, Jean Russel, Marie Redon and me took the trail from camp to the falls on the east fork of Sheep Creek at 1:00 P.M. Just below the falls - 200 yards - M. Redon saw a Callipe Hummingbird flying between a White Fir, Golden Oak and occasionally to a Yellow Pine. Dr. Miller located the bird(s) mist one small branch of a Golden Oak, just below a larger branch, in about the middle of the tree. She nest was located due to the female hummingbirds perturbed to honor in flight. After observing the nest and bird for about 25 minutes, the main body of the party continued up the trail past the falls, leaving M. Redon to observe the nest while Mrs. Dignam led Mrs. Miller and me to a good view of the falls (for a picture). Leaving the falls, the either three went down the trail to another trail along the east bank of Sheep Creek. Following this trail, we proceeded south - ward again in the direction of the falls.
