Party of seven - including Dr. and Mrs.
A. H. Miller, Dr. Harvey Fisher, Mrs. H.W. Grunnell, Frances Ogilvie, Marie Redon and
me - left Berkeley at 5:00 A.M. for Kings Canyon. Mrs. Grunnell drove her car with
Mrs. Miller, Frances Ogilvie, Marie Redon
and me in it, while Dr. Miller and Dr.
Fisher drove one of the museum trucks.
He started on Highway 50 from Berkeley,
went through Manteca to Fresno on
Highway 99, then took Highway 180 to
Kings Canyon National Park. He drove
through the canyon to Cedar Grove
C ranger Station, on the South Fork of
Kings River. There Ida De May and
Jean Cusick joined us after having
driven from Southern California. He
had dinner at Cedar Grove, then made
our camp in Cedar Grove campgrounds,
midway between the East and West Forks
of Sheep Creek. The most evident verte-
brates about were Coast Steller Jay
and Western Robin. Trees about
are Incense Cedar, Yellow and Sugar
Pine. Weather very warm, sunny.
He recorded a list of the animals
seen as we drove down.
