Cogswell 1950 Gavia immer June 28. Boca Reservoir, 5550 ft. Nevada & Calif.- [presumed to be things] 2 loons a near each other both in white fore-meshed plumage, were diving at 1/2 to 5 min. intervals near the east shore of the reservoir, which is bordered by an open sagebrush flat. This is in Sec.16, R 17E, T 18N, Mt.Diablo base meridian. There is no island in the lake so it seems unlikely that this species would breed there, altho lakes higher in the Sierra Nevada a few mi. to the W. would be suitable. July 24. in similar plumage I seen somewhat more toward middle of reservoir. It was turning on its side to preen.
