Cogswell (+ 4 other listener-observers) "Journal" 1950 3) Morning Bird Chorus Record July 25: along N. base of Disney mtn. & NE base of Crow's Nest rix. its former bordering on willow thickets of Cowgill meadow, 2000-7050 ft, 1.3 mi. SSW Donner Pass, Placer Co. Calif. Time when a particular species was first heard singing (or calling, if so stated) is recorded. Repeated songs thereafter are assumed. all imes are Pacific Standard: 0401 - Traill's Flycatcher 0401 1/4 - W. Wood Pewee 0403 1/2 - Lincoln's Sparrow 0405 - White-crowned Sparrow - 0409 - Robin - only 1 singing for some min. subsequent to this time. White-crowns now in full chorus (607) observers moved on to new post, nearer forest by 0413 - Hermit Thrush. by 0520 - Chipping Sparrow 0421 - Hammond's Flycatcher - called several times, then gave full song. oregon 0425 - Juncos 0426 - W. Tanager - called "prit-it" only wheeees. 0430 - Rufous Hummingbird - 7 active about, 0433 - Calliope Hummingbird - 9 active. Observers now at 4th listening post, still cannot hear within dense forest on slope of Crow's Nest. 0434 - Paleolated warbler - 1 called in willows 0438 - House Wren - " " 0443 - " " - calling & another one giving subdued song.
